Caterpillars and Butterflies

We have some resident caterpillars in Room 7 who are munching through their milkweed. I am only hoping they don't change into a crysalis over Labour weekend and the children miss the magical change. After our trip to Butterfly Creek and our inquiry into the Life cycle of the butterfly...we are experts of knowledge at each stage of the cycle. The children have been creating a booklet. We are all loving this topic.

Reading in Room 7

Reading activities are a fun way to reinforce early reading skills. We recently acquired some new headphones and the children are enjoying reading along to audio stories with their reading group. Assessment is well and truly under way for upcoming reports and it is wonderful to see that the children are more confident and reading with fluency. Thanks for all the continued support with the home reading programme. It makes such a difference to children's learning when their home reading supports the classroom programme.

Calendar Art

Here is a sneak preview of our calendar art this year...a pop art theme.  Definitely worth getting. The kids have enjoyed creating their masterpieces.

 

 

Father's Day Breakfast

Once again our fabulous fathers were treated to a yummy breakfast and a chance to have a look around their child's classroom last Friday. Some lucky Dads went home with some super prizes that were drawn at assembly. Some children in Room 22 and 23 shared some poems about their Dads too.

 

Thank you for all the Dads who were able to come...the children loved having you at school.

Wearable Arts

Thank you to all the wonderful parents who are helping create awesome garments. The children are loving it and I am so incredibly grateful for your support.

Book Week Dress Up

Wow...what an awesome bunch of children. We have pirates, fairies, princesses, knights, Luke Skywalker, Jessie, Willie Wonka x2, Strawberry Shortcake and lots more characters. What a fun day we are having. Thanks Mums and Dads for getting into the spirit of Book Week.

30 Years of Service to Botany Downs Primary...wow!

Thirty years ago today Mr Johnson started work at BDS as a caretaker. He has given thirty years of service. Wow...what an achievement. Congratulations Mr J.
